Our entry for the new residence for the Prime Minister of Australia competion, a New Lodge by the Lake..

based on the indigeneous concept of 'Nguru' - a 'Camp' - unlike the eurocentric concept of something of low worth and passing,

the Ngunwawal word meaning holds the nature of ephemerality but also has meanings of home, shelter, protection and value.

The definition of camp as a temporary ephemeral place of habitation is extended to encompass buildings that move, change, morph, distort and alter themselves according to

function, weather, season and diurnality.

The main house is divided into separate pavilions reflected the multi-functional nature of the plasce, .

a grand hall for entertaining the first division, a formal receiving pavilion for the elite and a personal retreat pavilion for living in.

the grand hall is designed as a translucent morphing display place where the great public events which we all contribute to

can be witnessed by the proletariat, visible across the lake by the passing parade alight at night and flowing graceful whjite wings in the day,

open for fair weather closed against the harsh.
